Winner SRH vs KKR betting tips and predictions
There is a growing feeling that SRH might well be a team that goes all the way in IPL 2021 and with good reason. Their powerplay batting is arguably the strongest in the competition and their defensive bowling options were also the envy of every other team last year and have only been strengthened by the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar from injury. Buvi also adds to impressive leadership group at the franchise with David Warner, Kane Williamson and Jason Holder all among the senior pros who no how to get the job done.
They go up against a side in KKR who have far more question marks over the form and fitness of their squad. On paper, this still looks like a formidable team particularly in the lower middle order where they can rightly claim they have greater hitting power than their opponents. However, the likes of Russell, Karthik and Narine all had disappointing IPL seasons last time out so we wait to see whether that was merely blip or whether those player’s stars are beginning to fade.
As detailed in our betting tips and predictions for the opening game of IPL 2021 which also takes place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium we’ll need to see just how dry and slow this pitch is before making too many bold predictions on the outcome of the match.
While SRH may possess the star spinner in regards Rashid Khan, his record bowling in Chennai is not particularly good and he tends to be more effective with some pace and bounce in the pitch. KKR meanwhile have the option to play 3 frontline spinners with Narine or Shakib in their squad supported by the likes of Varun, Kuldeep Yadav and the evergreen Harbhajhan Singh. As we’ll detail below, a couple of SRH’s batting stars, most notably David Warner, also don’t favour this venue so if KKR can put the Sunriser’s under pressure early on then their weaker suit which is undoubtedly their middle order may be exposed.
If the pitch does look dry then I think odds better than evens for KKR to win looks a good value bet (the best price I can currently find is 2.02 on KKR to win).
Top batsman SRH betting tips and predictions SRH vs KKR
Unsurprisingly the favourite in this field is SRH captain and opener David Warner who can be backed at odds of 3.25 to be his team’s top run scorer vs KKR. However, as detailed in our head to head analysis of SRH vs KKR, Warner does not enjoy playing on the slow surfaces that are most common at the MA Chidambaram Stadium as shown below.
As such his price looks a little over inflated. I’m not bullish enough just yet to lay against him as he is arguably the best opener in IPL history but again it will be worth seeing how the pitch plays in Friday night’s opener.
Better value then may be found in players who are happy to play the middle order accumulator role such as Manish Pandey who has prior form at this venue and was top scorer for SRH last time they played here in 2019 with a fluent 83*.You can back him to repeat the feat with odds as long as 5.5
Similarly Wriddhiman Saha could yet prove a good value punt if SRH opt to continue to partner him up front with Warner instead of either of the English openers on their books. You can get him for odds as long as 6.0 and this is probably a bet to be on the look out for throughout IPL 2021 as SRH look to shuffle their top order and free overseas spots lower down.
Top batsman KKR betting tips and predictions SRH vs KKR
With far less competition at the top of the order, it’s easier to identify who is likely to play for KKR vs SRH.
Shubman Gill was top scorer in 5 out of KKR’s 14 matches in last season’s IPL (35.71%) therefore his odds of 3.75 to be top scorer for his team in this match look very good value for money.
bet placed Shubman Gill to be top scorer for KKR vs SRH @ odds of 3.5
Top bowler SRH betting tips and predictions SRH vs KKR
Rashid Khan finished as the top bowler in 5 out SRH’s 16 game in the IPL last season and is understandably favourite at odds of 3.25 to repeat that again. The top bowler was then shared out between 6 other players in the remaining 10 matches last year and of course SRH have Buvi back to full form and fitness for IPL 2021. With such a competitive field it’s difficult to find any real value at this early stage of the season.
Top bowler KKR betting tips and predictions SRH vs KKR
Prasidh Krishna looks to be the best value bet for KRR’s top bowler vs SRH. The right-armer will be used predominately in the death overs where he has a strike rate of a wicket every 13 balls. He only appeared in 6 matches during the last IPL but finished as the top bowler on 2 occasions. Given his elevation and success in the recent ODI series vs England it seems likely that he will be given more opportunities in IPL 2021 and with Pat Cummins preferring to bowl in the Powerplay, Krishna should get at least a couple of overs at the death where wicket taking is always more frequent. Therefore odds of 6.0 look too generous to ignore.
The other dark horse may of course be Harbhajan Singh who has a fantastic record at this venue. If he plays then it would suggest that KKR believe the wicket will turn and backing a man with a S/R of a wicket every 19 balls in Chennai at odds of 5.5 might not seem a bad option.
bet placed Prasidh Krishna to be top bowler for KKR vs SRH @ odds of 6.0
Most runs in the powerplay betting tips and predictions SRH vs KKR
There are some surprisingly generous odds on the head to head markets on both Sky Bet and William Hill for the team to score the most runs in the first 6 overs of the match SRH vs KKR.
The Sunrisers scored at 8.38 during the powerplay of IPL 2020 which was the highest in the league while the Knight Riders were almost a run off that and suffered a couple of truly dreadful starts including 17/4 vs RCB which ranks them amongst the lowest powerplay scores of all time. One of the ongoing problems that KKR have is that they don’t have a real gun player in the top 3 to get them off to a flier. Sunil Narine’s days as a pinch hitter appear to be over and that being the case I would favour SRH to score more in the powerplay.
bet placed SRH to score the most runs in the powerplay vs KKR @ odds of 1.91
Live and in play betting tips SRH vs KKR
The way these 2 teams are set-up in regards their batting line-ups is almost the polar opposite. SRH are likely to get off to the faster start as we’ve detailed above but equally our head to head analysis showed that KKR have far the greater options at the death. That being the case, the in play total runs market will be one to watch during the match
