Most catches in an innings in the IPL

As a form of dismissal, out caught is the most common in IPL cricket. Here we details the 2 innings in IPL history where all batsmen have been out caught and the most catches in a match for an individual fielder.

There have been 2 innings in the IPL where all 10 batsmen on a team have been out caught. Coincidentally the 2 matches game just a few weeks apart during the 2017 season with the match situation in both games being very similar with the side chasing having to go hard in pursuit of 200+ and offering up plenty of catches in the process.

Dehli Daredevils 10 catches in an innings v Rising Pune Supergiant

The first instance of the most catches in an innings in the IPL was delivered by Delhi Daredevils who having scored 205 off their 20 overs thanks in no small part to a Sanju Samson century then saw the Rising Pune Supergiants collapse to 108 all out with every single batsmen being out caught.

Pant, Samson and Morris all took 2 catches a piece with no Supergiant batsmen managing to pass 20 runs. View the full scorecard here

Mumbai Indians 10 catches in an innings v Dehli Daredevils

The latest instance of a team taking all 10 wickets as catches in an IPL match came just 4 weeks after the first and once again involved Delhi Daredevils albeit that this time they were the team throwing away their wickets.

In complete contrast to the game before, Delhi lost Sanju Samson to the first ball of their reply as they chased 213 to win. The wheels then well and truly fell off with Delhi dismissed for just 66 in an innings which saw all 10 batsmen being caught and Rohit Sharma taking 3 of the 10 catches. View the full scorecard here

While 3 catches in an innings is a pretty good haul for Rohit, it fell just short of the all time record for most catches by a player in an IPL match.

That record is held jointly by 6 players all of whom have taken 4 catches in a single IPL game. The great Sachin Tendulkar started it by taking 4 catches in a game vs KKR in 2008 and despite 3 players managing to equal that record in 2019, to date no one has managed to better Tendulkar’s efforts in the IPL.
